This is Mad Matt’s 1980 Honda CBX. This bike was purchased at the Mid-America Auction in Las Vegas in Jan 2009 for $3500. It was not running at the time. I dis-assembled the carbs and cleaned them. I re-jetted for my altitude at 5000 ft with a dynojet kit, taking into consideration the air filters and pipe. I also re-built the clutch basket per an article I found on CBX world using 2 part 3M body filler to remold the clutch basket cush drive rubbers. I also removed the rear wheel and swingarm, powder coated the swingarm and cleaned it all up. I replaced the tires front and back, polished the engine covers, including the valve cover, cleaned the motor, and spray painted the engine cases aluminum. The kick stands were removed and powder coated, and also the battery box. The valves were adjusted and carbs synched. It still needs some carb work, but she runs pretty darn good for a 30 year old! The paint is really nice, I am sure it was re-painted at some point. I really love this bike, it just has a unique sound and I feel like a big kid when I ride it. I am planning a few Kewlmetal after market goodies for the CBX, and I hope to get a few out in the near future. Hope you enjoy the video.
